Oh that’s just too grogeous to ride :)
gorgeous even!
Another beautiful bike that’s a perfect match for her rider. :) Love those Nitto front racks.
A very beautiful bike! Congratulations!
Damn, lady…you don’t mess around! That is a fantastic bicycle…wonderfully appointed with classic flair!
Congratulations! That’s a sweet bike.
What a gorgeous bike! I bet she rides as smooth as she looks.
oh.my.god. That is B-E-A-U-tiful. I am not sure I have ever been quite this jealous of someone’s bike.
congrats! you will ride it in style…as it deserves!
My dad used to have a saying, “I wish I had yours and you had a better one.”
It certainly applies here.
Just had to join in the bike envy theme and say damn that is a stylish ride she just twinkles! What a flirt!!
Just gorgeous. Love the Honjo fenders, and the understated paint. Makes for a classy elegant finish.
Good for you!
She is a beauty! Well done!
which size did you decide on, by the way? I can’t tell from the pictures….
Very Pretty Dottie! Can’t wait to see some ‘action’ shots!
she’s beautiful. the brass bell & cork & the basket– wow. classy.
lovely lady, hope she rides well. i think you’ll like the bar end shifters.
Congratulations on your new bike. She’s lovely!
Oh, and I also thought you guys might be interested in this that I heard on NPR t this morning:

What an absolute beauty of a bicycle! I am trying to convince my wife that if she sells her cannondale and we invest in a betty foy, she’ll ride every day. I even offered to put off buying a new frame for myself if we could get her set up. Do eep us informed of how the ride is. I need to have someone else convince her that a new bike is better than a new car. thanks for the pictures too!
Very nice! I love me some mixte!
What a sweet bike. How much does it weigh…oops not supposed to ask that question! Weight is illrelevant. If you have to ask….
It looks like a classy ride. What does the cat think of it? Does it pass the sniff test?
Are you going to ride it on the streets? ;)
Wow, I envy you!
Dottie,
I’ll join in cause all the cool kids are doing it. ; – ) WOW – that’s a sweet bike.
Beautiful! It’s absolutely beautiful!
really nice with the fenders. but a pletscher rack on the back? i had one of those on my schwinn varsity in the 60’s…
perfect!
I love the bike!
You may consider getting some drop bars and swapping them out if you go on a longer ride. It’s an easy swap and it makes a big difference if you have a lot of wind. But your current setup looks ideal for city riding.
DAMN! I especially ♥ those heart lugs. It is customary to admire the lugs on fine rides like this, no? And the color, with the apples? Mm mm.
She’s so purty!
What a beautiful machine! The frame is a work of art.
I hope you chose the Pletscher rack purely for its retro style (which is reason enough, of course). 40 years ago, practically every Schwinn Varsity 10-speed, including mine, had one. Just be aware that they are completely useless for actually carrying anything, and can also really mess up the paint on your seat stays if the mounting bracket gets loose.
The Honjo fenders, OTOH, I have found are great for both fashion and function. They seem delicate because they are so light, but they are actually quite strong.
She’s so beautiful! Love your choice of fenders..and I like the bell. Actually, there’s nothing about the bike that I don’t like or admire. :) Hope you get many miles out of her.
Thanks, all!!!!!
Pletscher rack – made in Switzerland, $22, works for now. After dropping $$$ on the front Nitto rack, I had to hold off for now. Plus, it looks cool. Riv mounted brackets on fabric to protect paint job.
ghd, I got the larger size frame.
A classic beauty. It’s the kind of design you just want to hug. The tan leather seat is a striking contrast against the blue frame.
Probably my favorite mixte out there now. I did just see this one, for those in the market: http://somafab.blogspot.com/2009/03/buena-vistas-have-arrived.html Pretty cool too!
I’ve got to get with you. I would love to start cycling, but I must admit, I’m a little intimidated by going really fast down hills, lol. I love this bike!
The Betty Foy is pretty awesome. Bike envy!
♥beautiful one!!!!! yes action shots soon pretty-please, what a way to welcome the spring. big yay’s ;)
Gorgeous! Congrats!
Love the color…congrats and have lotsa fun riding.
What are all these people asking if you are going to ride it thinking about? Of course you are going to ride it! That is what bikes are for, even fancy ones from Rivendel : )
Sniff…..*wipes tear away*…beautiful…just beautiful…..
Oh, you got one! I want a betty foy so badly but have not figured out how to afford it….I wonder if they are sold out yet? How does it ride? Is it really worth it? Let us know!
May I ask, How did you mount and secure the basket on that Nitto Rack?
Poorly! Right now there are three zip ties holding it on. I did that the first day so I could go to work, figuring I would set it up better later, but have not gotten around to it yet. When it’s loaded, it makes a creaking sound, as the two metals rub together.
Hi,
I love your bike. I am in the process of ordering a Betty Foy, and I’m thinking about components. I’m just learning about drivetrains; is that a triple or a compact double? Sugino? What size did you finally choose? I’m 5’5″, with PBH of 77, and I’m ordering the 52cm. Thanks
Hi Barbara. I chose the larger size. I’m 5’7 with a pbh of – I forgot – maybe 80. I am the smallest size that will fit the larger frame, so it sounds like the 52 cm will be perfect for you. The crank is Sugino XD2 170, a triple.
Let me know how your bike purchase goes!!
