Kate Spade CHI :)

You know how the right outfit has the power to brighten your day and make the world a more fun place to live?  If no, you should probably skip this vapid post.  If so – yeah!  totally!

I wore this Kate Spade ensemble to work last week, which of course involved nearly ten miles of bicycling.  And I felt so super happy the entire time, la la la lalalalaaaa.  *birds chirping*  A bonus is that drivers might be nicer to me dressed like this (Mary Poppins Effect), if they take a moment to glance up from their iPhones.

I am usually a thrift store lady, but I am admittedly attracted to a few different designers.  Not that I pay full price!  Goodness, no!  But I am a seasoned clearance stalker and when this Kate Spade dress popped up for 1/3 of the original price, I was so there.

Luckily, the weather was not too hot and humid – I’d hate to sweat all over this dress’s lovely lining (’cause I sweat like a piglet).  Tip time!  Did you notice the socklette peeking from my mary janes?  I buy those from the drugstore and they keep my feet from getting sweaty-stinky.  ;)

I also wore my Nutcase helmet, not pictured because I won’t pretend I think helmets improve on a look.  Oh!  But you know what helmet would have been spectacular with this dress (if you’re into that kind of thing!):

Ladybug!!!

Do you have a favorite outfit that makes you feel especially happy and cheery while bicycling?  I’d love to hear about it!

That is a REALLY CUTE dress! I love the little bow at the waist – darling!

I recently started biking in skirts/dresses & it has changed my life! Now every day feels like flowers blooming & birds chirping, haha :)

Love it! I cycle in skirts and dresses all the time (never wear pants)… But sometimes the breeze works against me. Still working on figuring that bit out so my panties won’t be on display! Lol!

Totally upright bikes are the hardest for keeping skirts down, because the positioning allows the wind to get under them, instead of pushing them down against your thighs.  Sometimes I ride one-handed with the other hand holding my skirt, sometimes I tie the skirt, and sometimes I wear bike shorts underneath.  Or I wear heavier/longer skirts with my Dutch bike and save my lighter dresses for my Rivendell.

I love that skirt!! I cycle in skirts and found a great company that do Rainwraps (www.georgiaindublin.com) that stop your skirt blowing up and protect your legs in wet weather but still look pretty

  5. That looks like the perfect summer cycling outfit. But, SHOES! I want your shoes so badly. I am always on the lookout for a beige-y pump with panache.

I do love how those shoes look. They are Marc Jacobs, purchased on clearance three years ago. They look new because I’ve worn them only three times. High heels are uncomfortable and hard to walk in for me, so I usually wear flats or small wedges, but sometimes aesthetics win over. :)

You need to watch “Mary Poppins” once again. Even Mary’s best outfits paled in comparison…

Fabulous skirt!  And you’re wearing high HEELS!  You put it all together so well.

  8. I was predicting that nutcase helmet to complete your perfect Dottie outfit!  I also love the shoes…What brand are they?

  9. Saw you already mentioned Marc Jacobs in the comments!

Wonderful dress and it suits you bike as well.  I have a favorite biking outfit , but it will be some time before I’m able to wear it again since it is all winter wool separate.  Even though it’s all grey, it always makes me feel smart and pulled together.

I love outfits that make me feel pulled together, since usually I feel like a mess.  That’s one reason I like dresses so much – like outfit in a bag.  :)

Love the ensemble! Beats the bajebers out of my athletic shorts and t-shirt. Note to self: Step it up in the clothes department.
